Memorial Biography

Klondike passed away peacefully, alongside her mom, Kym and her sister’s Demi and Lexi, on Saturday, August 17th, under the care of Companion Care. She was 10 1/2 yrs old and surpassed the average life of a St. Bernard. Born March 1, 2009, Klondike was adopted by her mom, Kym, on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009. She barely fit in her Easter basket! She quickly became the center of attention and melted the hearts of her 4 sisters, Krystal, Demi, Natalee and Lexi. Kym will never forget Krystal’s reaction when she first laid eyes on Klondike, “OMG is that a panda?!” She was spoiled from day one. She became the boss of the house and when she barked, you listened! Well, with the exception of her feline sister, Cloe. Cloe didn’t tolerate any attitude from Klondike lol and Cloe always remained the real boss, although Klondike would disagree. Klondike had several nicknames including, “Nana” (from Peter Pan), because Klondike always protected her family and she would set them straight if they tried to rough house. Klondike house-trained very easily and learned to sit, stay, lay down, speak and give her paw on command. She loved to eat and her favorite treats included, ham hocks, cheese, hotdogs, oatmeal cream pies and pig ears. Like her mommy, Klondike loved to eat ice! Her favorite season was winter. She loved to run, frolic and roll around in the snow. Klondike loved water! She especially loved her mommy giving her 4 hour baths. When she would see her mommy grab the blower dryer, she would get so excited, jumping and barking. It was her favorite! One day, she decided she wanted to take a dip in the pool.....she obviously didn’t think it through because once she got in, she couldn’t figure out how to get herself out. That’s a memory Krystal will never forget! Klondike was such a smart girl. She would bark repeatedly when she saw her mommy grabbed her purse and keys because she knew she was leaving and she wanted to go with her. She would bark when a visitor came over the house because she wanted them to pet her. She was very outspoken lol. After her sisters moved out of the house she missed them so much, whenever they came back home she was so excited to see them. When her baby brother, Chandler, was born in 2012, she welcomed him and they stole each other’s hearts. In 2014, Chubbs, a Siamese cat, joined the family. Klondike had no hesitations in welcoming him. Chubbs loved to rub up against Klondike and she didn’t mind at all. In 2016, Kym adopted Klondike’s canine brother, Kash. They hit it off from the start. Klondike showed him the ropes and Kash looked up to her and copied her every move. Pals forever❤️ Klondike is preceded in death by her boyfriend and baby’s Daddy, Chance Shymansky, a Chocolate Lab. They met in 2009 and didn’t waste any time becoming parents. In 2010, Klondike gave birth to 14 puppies. She was such a good mommy to her babies. Her biggest baby, a boy we named Biggs, stayed with his mommy until he was 1yr old, when he was adopted by a loving family. When asked about a special memory of Klondike, her sister’s remembered: “Her standing near the back door inside the house, she was looking at me while I was on the deck and I called her name and she turned her head slightly. That's the first time she did that when I called her name. She was so tiny”- Krystal “When I came home from college and she would charge down the steps to come say hi and snuggle” -Demi “When she used to run away and we had to spend forever chasing her around the neighborhood”-Natalee “Her having her puppies and then playing with Biggs”-Lexi “One of my favorite memories was when I took Klondike and her son Biggs to the river for a swim. It was Biggs first time in the water. He got to the point when his paws could no longer touch the bottom and it was obvious he was in a panic. He managed to swim to Klondike and climbed onto her back and Klondike swam with him on her back to shore. Just like a good mommy”❤️-Kym Klondike will always be remembered as our loving, gentle giant and the best dog ever!!
